Chad Johnson says his domestic violence incident with Evelyn Lozada was the lowest moment in his life
The incident with Johnson sparked Lozada to become an advocate for battered women. She also started her own foundation for the cause.
Johnson spent years after the incident with Lozada working on himself personally. Johnson is loved on social media for his humor and his charm. When a fan recently asked Johnson how he manages to stay positive, Johnson referenced his incident with Lozada.
“I lost my temper for once in life for 3 seconds & it cost me a lifetimes worth of work, I got it all back and then some after getting a 2nd chance & NOTHING will ever get me out of that happy space again,” he responded. The Shade Room captured Johnson’s exchange with his fan.
Johnson previously referenced the incident with Lozada as a turning point in his personal life. “Sis, I lost my temper for 3 seconds years ago & it cost me a lifetimes worth of work in less than 24hrs,” he replied. It’s REALLY easy to be positive now after getting it all back,” he told a fan in December 2019 on Twitter.
Evelyn Lozada posts cryptic message and a tearful Instagram video hinting to more abuse from Chad Johnson
Lozada seemingly responded to Johnson’s Twitter exchange on her Instagram stories, taking issue with Johnson claiming to have only lost his temper one time.
“Once,” she wrote with confused face emoji, along with the hashtag #MemoryLoss. She followed up with another message, writing, “If you’re going to comment or speak on our past relationship PLEASE SPEAK THE TRUTH!!! You’re too old & grown to still be out here lying.”
Lozada has admitted that she is disappointed in Johnson for not publicly admitting guilt about the incident.
In a 2012 sit-down with Iyanla Vanzant, Lozada did not say that Johnson ever hit her prior to the headbutting incident, but she did allege that Johnson was hot-tempered.
“I allowed myself to let him behave that way,” Evelyn confessed. “Not really say much. I knew to just leave the argument alone,” she continued, fearing for huge blowups. She also alleged that Johnson would try and intimidate her by getting in her face during arguments.

In a tearful Instagram video, Lozada elaborated on her Instagram story messages.
“It wasn’t the first time…I have never discussed anything that ever happened other than the incident that people know because I always was concerned about his kids, out kids, and having to relive this,” Lozada said.
Lozada also slammed fans of Basketball Wives for relating her bad behavior on the show with what took place with Johson. Though she says she’s remorseful for past behavior, she says the two situations are unrelated. For Lozada, all she wants to do is move forward.
